Pregnancy and childbirth often bring unexpected joys and challenges, and for HGTV star Jasmine Roth, this included a surprising and scary health issue after the birth of her first child, daughter Hazel Lynn, in April 2020. Roth experienced recurring nosebleeds in the weeks following Hazel’s birth, which eventually led to a medical procedure.
Roth shared her struggle on Instagram in October 2020, explaining that she began having daily nosebleeds soon after welcoming Hazel. At first, her doctor thought the nosebleeds were linked to mask-wearing during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, as the months passed, the nosebleeds became more frequent, and Roth experienced between five and 30 nosebleeds a day.
After five months of suffering, Roth sought a second opinion and was referred to an ear, nose, and throat specialist. She learned that the nosebleeds were caused by a growth in her nostril triggered by pregnancy hormones, which required surgery. Roth scheduled the procedure, but things took an unexpected turn before the surgery even happened.
While swimming with Hazel, Roth’s nose was bumped by her daughter’s head, causing the growth to dislodge on its own. Roth described the shocking moment on Instagram, saying she rushed into the shower to stop the bleeding, only to find the growth sitting in a pool of blood on the floor.
The growth had been connected to blood vessels that were now ruptured, so Roth quickly contacted her doctor, who treated her by numbing and cauterizing her nose.
Despite these health challenges and other difficulties, such as her daughter Hazel’s illnesses and a neck injury in 2023, Roth has embraced motherhood. In a blog post from June 2022, she reflected on her birthing experience, saying, “They say birthing a child changes everything, and I agree. My friends ask me how it was, and I can’t even begin to describe it.”
Roth and her husband, Brett, welcomed their second daughter, Darla Rose, in September 2024.
