Angelina Jolie showed her full support for her daughter, Zahara, by attending a mother-daughter brunch hosted by Women in Training Inc. (WIT) in Alabama. The event highlighted Zahara’s role as a speaker, where she passionately addressed the issue of period poverty.
Period poverty refers to the lack of access to menstrual products and education for women and girls. Zahara, a student at Spelman College, used the platform to raise awareness about the cause. WIT’s President and CEO, Asdeyela Bennett, expressed gratitude for Zahara’s involvement, saying, “We are truly honored that Zahara Jolie-Pitt will speak at the Fourth Annual WIT Mother-Daughter Brunch about her passion to end period poverty, which is the mission of Women in Training.”
Bennett also shared excitement about Angelina’s presence, adding, “We are thrilled that her mother, internationally renowned actress Angelina Jolie, will join us to support her daughter and our mission to ensure every girl and young woman has the products she needs to live her life to the fullest.”
At the event, both Zahara and Angelina wore white. Angelina donned a button-up shirt and slacks, smiling proudly as she posed for photos with attendees and supported Zahara throughout the day. Zahara wore a white dress paired with matching heels.
Angelina has long expressed admiration for her daughter, who she adopted from Ethiopia in 2005 when Zahara was just seven months old. Reflecting on their bond, Angelina shared in a 2020 TIME 100 Talk, “My daughter is from Ethiopia, one of my children… And I have learned so much from her.”
She continued, “She is my family, but she is an extraordinary African woman, and her connection to her country, her continent, is her own, and it’s something I only stand back in awe of.”
