More good news is on the way for Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner and his family.
On Sunday, Gaby McCabe, wife of teammate Jake McCabe, shared on her Instagram story that she had attended a baby shower for Stephanie Marner. The post hinted at the exciting announcement, featuring a cookie decorated with blue icing and a card that read:
Oh Boy!
Welcome Baby Marner
Love your Lady Leafs
Makeup artist Estelle Phillips also posted a series of three photos on Instagram showing Stephanie’s look for the day, captioning it: “Baby shower glam for our girl.”
Although Marner has yet to comment publicly, it seems the couple is preparing to welcome their first child—a baby boy.
The 27-year-old Marner will soon join teammates Morgan Rielly and Simon Benoit in the “new dad” club. Both Rielly and Benoit became first-time fathers earlier this summer.
Just days before this announcement, Marner played a key role in Team Canada’s victory at the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament, assisting on the game-winning goal in the final at TD Garden in Boston. Marner is currently in the final year of a six-year, $65.41 million contract with the Leafs.
On top of that, Marner is having a standout season, leading the Leafs with 55 assists and 71 points, stepping up as a crucial offensive force as the team has faced a series of injuries.
