WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. (TND) — The discovery of an 8-month-old baby’s body on a Los Angeles highway has sparked a double-murder suicide investigation, authorities report.
The Los Angeles Police Department said the baby was found along the 405 Freeway, with a 9-year-old girl who survived but suffered moderate injuries.
Shortly after, police located the children’s mother, identified as 34-year-old Danielle Johnson, who had crashed her car into a tree in Redondo Beach. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators later found 29-year-old Jaelen Chaney, Johnson’s partner, dead from apparent stab wounds in their Woodland Hills apartment. Authorities believe an argument between the two escalated, with Johnson stabbing Chaney, who died from his injuries.
Police say Johnson fled the scene with her children, driving at speeds over 100 mph on the 405 Freeway. While on the freeway, she is reported to have thrown the 8-month-old and 9-year-old from the moving vehicle.
Johnson then crashed her car into a tree in Redondo Beach. Chaney’s body was discovered in the apartment after neighbors noticed the front door open and went to check on the residents. A knife with biological evidence was recovered at the scene.
