LONDON (WJW) – The Metropolitan Police in London are seeking the public’s help in identifying the parents who abandoned three of their newborn children over a span of several years. A reward of over $24,000 has been offered on the first anniversary of the discovery of the third baby, Elsa, on January 18 last year.
According to the police, Elsa was found in East London, wrapped in a towel inside a shopping bag. She was taken to a hospital where she was found to be unharmed and placed in care. Investigators later discovered that Elsa’s DNA matched that of two other babies found in similar situations in previous years.
Baby Harry was discovered in a park in Newham in September 2017, while Baby Roman was found in a children’s play park in January 2019.
Detective Inspector Jamie Humm of the Metropolitan Police’s Child Abuse Investigation Team expressed concerns for the parents’ well-being, especially the mother, and emphasized that police are working closely with Newham Council to gather information from the public.
After six years of investigation, a reward of $24,000 is now being offered through Crimestoppers. Authorities believe the mother may be from Plaistow or East Ham and hope that someone in the area may have noticed her pregnancies.
“We believe people in the community may have had concerns about the mother’s welfare,” said Humm. “If you have any information, no matter how small, please get in touch.”
All three children are reported to be in good health. The investigation is ongoing.
