I Tried Little Spoon’s Pre-Made Meals with My Picky Toddler — Here’s What I Found

by daisy

As a parent, I’ve noticed my toddler now eats better than I do, and here’s why.

The days of jarred baby food and plastic puree pouches are fading away. We’re entering an era where fresh, nutritious, and delicious meals for kids can be delivered to your doorstep with no preparation required.

One of the companies leading this change is Little Spoon, a New York City-based startup. A fellow mom described it as a “Michelin-level dining experience” for kids.

The founders of Little Spoon aimed to create a product that would appeal to both picky eaters and their equally selective parents.

“We are dedicated to creating products that cater to modern parents who prioritize quality and nutrition for their children,” said Angela Vranich, co-founder and chief product officer of Little Spoon.

Since its 2017 launch, Little Spoon has gained a loyal following on social media, with celebrities like Ashley Tisdale and Melissa Joan Hart showing their support. In February 2024, the brand became the first U.S. baby food company to adopt EU-aligned safety standards for its Babyblends.

Curious about the brand, I decided to test it out myself — was Little Spoon truly worth the hype, or just overrated?

What is Little Spoon?

Little Spoon is a children’s food brand that delivers a variety of meals, snacks, and smoothies directly to consumers. Their offerings cater to kids at every stage, from infants starting solids to older children.

The company works with experts in nutrition, feeding, and child development to create meals that match each child’s unique needs. All ingredients are organic, sourced from trusted farms, and free from artificial additives, such as synthetic colors and high fructose corn syrup. The Babyblends are also tested for heavy metals and other contaminants.

Their menu includes a wide range of options, such as baby food, finger foods, heat-and-eat meal plates, and on-the-go lunches perfect for school.

Little Spoon Prices

Little Spoon’s meals are priced according to age groups. Here’s an overview of their pricing:

Babyblends (organic baby food): Starting at $3.32 per blend (42 blends per delivery)

Biteables (early finger foods): Starting at $6.49 per meal (12 meals per week)

Plates (toddler and kids’ meals): Starting at $6.49 per meal (12 meals per week)

Lunchers (big kid meals): Starting at $7.92 per meal (14 meals per week)

Smoothies (all ages): Starting at $2.82 per smoothie (18 smoothies per week)

The subscription service is straightforward. After the initial order, deliveries are scheduled every two weeks, but you can skip, cancel, or adjust your plan at any time. Larger bundles offer better discounts, and a standard $10 shipping fee is applied to all orders.
