A Sussex County family celebrated a special New Year’s moment early Wednesday, as their baby boy, Andy Amilcar Tzoy Mendoza, was born at 12:39 a.m. He became the first baby born at Beebe Healthcare in 2025.
Parents Rosa Mendoza Ortiz and Uber Amilcar Tzoy Torraza were thrilled to welcome their son and to learn he was the first baby of the New Year. Andy weighed 6 pounds, 0.2 ounces and measured 19 inches in length. The Labor & Delivery team presented the family with a basket of newborn essentials, along with a gift card and additional Beebe gifts from the Beebe Medical Foundation.

Beebe Healthcare is recognized as a baby-friendly hospital, focusing on the importance of breastfeeding for all new mothers. The hospital provides education on the benefits of breastfeeding and ensures that mothers can begin breastfeeding immediately after delivery. Lactation consultants are available to support breastfeeding.
