Indian cricketer Axar Patel and his wife Meha Patel have been blessed with their first child, a baby boy, the couple announced on Tuesday, December 24. The joyous news came via a heartfelt post shared by Axar on Instagram, where he revealed that their son was born on December 19, 2024.
A Special Announcement with a Cricket Twist
In the Instagram post, Axar and Meha shared an adorable picture of their newborn son dressed in a custom India jersey. Alongside the photo, they revealed the name of their son—Haksh Patel.
“He’s still figuring out the offside from the leg, but we couldn’t wait to introduce him to all of you in blue. World, welcome Haksh Patel, India’s smallest, yet biggest fan, and the most special piece of our hearts. 19-12-2024,” the couple wrote in the caption.
Axar’s Absence from Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Axar’s paternity leave meant that he was absent from the Indian squad for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In a pre-match press conference before the Boxing Day Test against Australia, India captain Rohit Sharma confirmed that Axar was not included in the squad for any of the Test matches due to his recent fatherhood.
“Tanush Kotian played here in Australia a month back with India A and performed well,” Sharma explained. “Kuldeep Yadav wasn’t 100% fit and faced visa issues, while Axar Patel had just welcomed a baby into his family. Kotian was the best option available, given his readiness and recent form.”
A Joyous Journey for Axar and Meha
Axar and Meha had shared the news of their pregnancy earlier this year, on October 7. The cricketer took to Instagram to share a heartwarming video, which confirmed that they would soon be parents. The video also showcased moments from Meha’s baby shower, which was attended by both families.
The couple, who tied the knot in a grand ceremony in January 2023, shared their excitement and joy with fans, marking the beginning of their new chapter as parents.
