Lubbock Police Department revealed on Tuesday that an infant, previously in critical condition following an assault, was declared deceased at 11:30 p.m. on Monday. Three individuals have been apprehended in connection to the child’s injuries.
The incident unfolded on May 8 when LPD responded to Covenant Women’s and Children’s Emergency Room upon receiving a report of potential child abuse.
Kristal Morse, 22, Casey Harbison, 23, and Tiffany Whalen, 43, were taken into custody on May 10 at approximately 8:30 p.m., according to LPD. Morse and Harbison face charges of Aggravated Assault, while Whalen has been charged with Injury to a Child.
As of Tuesday evening, all three suspects remain detained at the Lubbock County Detention Center. Morse and Harbison are held on bonds of $250,000 each, while Whalen’s bond is set at $200,000.
The investigation, led by LPD’s Family Crimes Unit and the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit, is ongoing with the possibility of further charges.

(LUBBOCK, TX) — Three individuals have been incarcerated in connection to the injuries sustained by a five-month-old in Central Lubbock.
Lubbock Police Officers responded to Covenant Women’s and Children’s Emergency Room on May 8, at 4:32 p.m. following a report of possible child abuse by hospital staff. The infant was pronounced deceased on May 13, around 11:30 p.m.
Kristal Morse, 22, Casey Harbison, 23, and Tiffany Whalen, 43, were apprehended on May 10, around 8:30 p.m. in connection to the infant’s injuries. While Morse was taken into custody at the hospital, Harbinson and Whalen were arrested in the 4900 block of Joliet Avenue by LPD’s Crime Suppression Unit and the U.S. Marshals. All three were transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center without incident.
Morse and Harbison are currently charged with Aggravated Assault. Whalen is charged with Injury to a Child.
The investigation is ongoing under the direction of LPD’s Family Crimes Unit and the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit, with the potential for additional charges.
